Math
We use Saxon Math in 3rd grade. Saxon Math is unique because the entire program is based on introducing a topic to a student and then allowing the student to build upon that concept as they learn new ones. Topics are never dropped but are instead increased in complexity and practiced every day, providing the time required for concepts to become totally familiar.
Students will have a homework sheet or page each night for homework except Fridays. Side A is always done in class. We go over this together, and it is your child’s responsibility to write down the correct answers. This helps in solving the problems that are presented on Side B.
We will have a math test almost every 5 lessons. Sometimes, we will go over a topic again if the students are having trouble understanding what was taught.
