Biography Reports: After reading the short story, The Journey of Charles Lindbergh, the students were responsible for researching a significant person in history. They each researched and designed a concept map on the computer, sketched and colored a picture of their famous person, and presented their findings to the class for an oral report.
Honoring President's Day
We know all 44 presidents and we're ready to prove it!
Regions of the United States: students worked in small groups to present on a region in the United States. Each kid made a brochure of one specific state in their region, the group designed a poster about their region and they presented to the class with their information.
The students were graded on their brochure, poster, and presentation. All the students helped me grade by completing "Peer Critique".
Christmas Around the World - Each third grader used the internet to research a country and their traditions for Christmas. They presented their country and we recorded the information in a booklet.
Types of Communities
Students studied varous types of communities and worked together to create a mural of: rural, suburban, and urban communities. They became very creative with colored construction paper by making the St. Louis Arch, Busch Stadium, and a chicken coop. It was a great culminating activity to our community unit.
